High school seniors with an EECU account in good standing (or a parent/guardian with an EECU account) are eligible to apply for EECU’s Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship. If you know a deserving senior who may qualify, download the eligibility criteria and application here.

Here is an excerpt from 2013 Scholarship Winner Koby Wulfjen’s winning essay:

I believe that it is important to attend college to increase my opportunities in the workforce. I also believe the college experience will help me grow as a person and help me establish key associations for the future.

My family was unable to appropriately save for my college education. The Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship would help ease the financial burden for me and my family.

Agriculture has always been a passion in my life, I gained this passion through many generations of agricultural promoters in my family. Ever since I was in first grade I have been raising and showing livestock at local stock shows, also I have been active in many agricultural community service projects. Participation in numerous LDE’s and CDE’s has led to my strong interest in pursuing a career in agriculture. With the help of this scholarship I will be able to further my education at an agricultural based school. Through this education I plan on continuing to promote conservation in wildlife, soil, water, and grasslands. With this area of study my goal is not only to help my community and state, but to encourage and educate the youth of precious natural resources that will one day greatly impact my nation and world for the better.

Applications should be received by mail or at any EECU location by January 31, 2014.

    • Hi Rebecca! The Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship has been around since 1988 and was created to honor the work of long-time Fort Worth educator and former EECU Board Member Glenn Mandeville.

  1. What is the criteria for the Scholarship?

Is this Scholarship available for any major?

What is the amount of the Scholarship?

Is this Scholarship limited to EECU members’ children?

    Thanking you,

    • Hi Walter! The full criteria for the scholarship can be found here in the application. Three students are selected who will pursue education as their major, and three will be selected with other majors. Each scholarship is $5,000 and is disbursed in yearly distributions. All applicants must be a member in good standing, or their parent or legal guardian must be a member in good standing with EECU. We hope this answers your questions!
