Here is an excerpt from 2013 Scholarship Winner Koby Wulfjen’s winning essay:
I believe that it is important to attend college to increase my opportunities in the workforce. I also believe the college experience will help me grow as a person and help me establish key associations for the future.
My family was unable to appropriately save for my college education. The Glenn Mandeville Memorial Scholarship would help ease the financial burden for me and my family.
Agriculture has always been a passion in my life, I gained this passion through many generations of agricultural promoters in my family. Ever since I was in first grade I have been raising and showing livestock at local stock shows, also I have been active in many agricultural community service projects. Participation in numerous LDE’s and CDE’s has led to my strong interest in pursuing a career in agriculture. With the help of this scholarship I will be able to further my education at an agricultural based school. Through this education I plan on continuing to promote conservation in wildlife, soil, water, and grasslands. With this area of study my goal is not only to help my community and state, but to encourage and educate the youth of precious natural resources that will one day greatly impact my nation and world for the better.
Applications should be received by mail or at any EECU location by January 31, 2014.
